Google Business Profile Management in Kerala: What Should a Monthly Service Include?

A monthly Google Business Profile management service should explain what will be maintained, how often work will happen, what the owner must supply and how results will be reported. A list of posts or a promise of more calls is not enough to assess the service.

This guide helps Kerala business owners compare ongoing support with a one-time optimisation project. It also explains how I structure paid Local SEO work from Malappuram.

One-time optimisation or monthly management?

A one-time project suits a defined set of improvements, such as reviewing business information and contact links. Monthly management suits a business that needs ongoing updates, review-response support and reporting. Some owners can maintain an accurate profile themselves after an initial review.

Start by asking what changes in your business regularly and who currently checks the listing. A recurring fee should correspond to agreed recurring work, not the existence of the profile. Eligible businesses can add or claim a Google Business Profile for free; professional support is a separate service.

What the monthly scope should cover

1. Information maintenance

Agree which details will be checked and updated when the business changes: customer-facing hours, contact links, relevant services and other available fields. The owner should confirm the real operating details. Use the opening-hours guide when normal hours, breaks or holidays need attention.

2. Genuine photos and useful updates

Agree who supplies current photos and approves any offer or announcement. Publish material that accurately represents the business. Set the frequency and approval process in the quote rather than treating an arbitrary post count as a ranking formula. Photo shoots, design work and extra revisions should be clearly included or priced separately.

3. Review-response support

Decide who reviews incoming feedback, who approves replies and how complaints reach the owner. Invite honest feedback from genuine customers without incentives or selective requests for positive ratings. Do not promise to remove a genuine negative review. Replies must not reveal private customer information. See Google’s Maps content policy.

4. A work record and monthly report

The owner should receive a concise record of completed changes, pending items and the next priorities. Separate work delivered from results observed. A recommendation waiting for photos or owner approval must not be presented as completed.

What a useful report tells you

Google’s Performance guidance explains that available metrics vary and that reporting requires a verified profile and authorised access. Reports should state the exact dates, the available interactions and any missing data. Keep a partial month distinct from a completed month.

Call-button actions do not confirm answered calls, and direction requests do not confirm visits. Staff should record genuine enquiries and confirmed purchases separately. Google also notes that Performance data can include activity from organic results and Google Ads, so do not automatically label every interaction as an SEO result.

My Malabar Optics case study reports dated profile evidence with limitations and pending priorities. It is an example of transparent reporting, not a forecast for your business. Read more about interpreting call actions and direction requests.

What to agree before paying

  • Scope: which profile and branch, which tasks and which exclusions?
  • Frequency: how often are checks, updates and reports delivered?
  • Owner inputs: who provides accurate hours, photos and approvals?
  • Fees: what is recurring, what is one-time and what costs extra?
  • Access: which manager permissions are needed and how will access end?
  • Communication: who handles urgent changes and customer complaints?
  • Exit: what notice, handover and final reporting are agreed?

Website SEO, paid advertising, photography and handling customer calls are separate work unless explicitly included. Verification and appeals may require direct owner participation.

What management cannot guarantee

Google describes local ranking in terms of relevance, distance and prominence, and says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. A consultant can maintain accurate information and perform agreed improvements; they cannot control Google’s decisions or guarantee a fixed number of enquiries. See Google’s local ranking guidance.
